About the Presenters
Robin Burgess-Limerick BHMS(Hons) PhD CPE CPMSIA FHFESA
Prof Robin Burgess-Limerick has extensive experience in physical and cognitive human factors and ergonomics research, particularly applied to the reduction of musculoskeletal injury risks in occupational settings. Robin’s research in the area of participative ergonomics programs for the prevention of manual task related injury has had considerable impact. Robin led the team which developed the PErforM program and the ManTRA tool in 2000. This research was recognised by awards from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFESA) and the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and has been widely cited by government guidance materials including the Hazardous Manual Tasks Code of Practice.
Robin’s extensive publications in the area include a report commissioned by the National Occupational Health and Safety Commission, the SIA Body of Knowledge chapter on Biomechanical Hazards, and evaluations of the PErforM program across a range of industries. In 2006, Robin was a National Academy of Sciences Senior Research Associate at NIOSH where he developed these methods further in collaboration with NIOSH researchers.
Robin is a past-president, and Fellow, of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia; a Certified Professional Ergonomist; and a Chartered Professional Member of the Safety Institute of Australia. Robin and Gary are the creators of the ErgoAnalyst system.
